Heat Exchangers, Chillers, Evaporators, Condensers, Generator Fans and Air Exchangers all have cooling coils surrounded by fins that get plugged up over time with dirt and other debris as air moves through them. This causes these expensive machines to work harder and use more energy. A coil fouled with dirt and grime cannot supply proper heat transfer and results in greater energy consumption.
FACTS: Equipment operating with dirty coils can use up to 37% more energy than those with clean coils. Additionally, a dirty system’s cooling capacity can be reduced by as much as 30%. Dirty coils increase operating pressure and temperatures that breakdown the compressor’s lubricant and can result in equipment failure. A failed compressor means no cooling, costly repair and expensive downtime to your operations.
The best course of action is to clean them regularly. Conventional methods include pressure washing, compressed air, chemical sprays and disassembly. These methods can be either ineffective, can damage the equipment, are environmentally unfriendly, labour intensive and/or cost prohibitive.

Dry ice is scooped into our portable units in pellet form. Using compressed air, it is sprayed through the effected coils. As the dry ice hits the surface, it changes directly from a solid to a gas. In doing so, the molecules expand by 800 times the size they were in solid form. The result is an instant removal of the blockage in these coils with no mess or damage to the fins, while sanitizing the surface. Dry ice is moisture free (see Learning Library), so it is non-conductive. Our technicians are experts in ensuring the delicate fins surrounding the coils are not damaged.
Since 2005, we have provided mobile dry ice blast cleaning services and have not strayed from our focus in becoming experts in our field. Unlike other service companies, where C02 cleaning is an add-on, this is ALL we do. Our technicians are experts in using the latest equipment the technology has to offer for the industries we serve.
In addition to Scrub Zero being SECOR certified, our technicians are fully certified in all safety courses necessary for working in any environment. This includes various types of manufacturing facilities, including H2S Gas Plants. We are also Canqual Approved and ISNetworld Certified.
There are other applications in gas plants where dry ice blasting makes sense. Remember: NO chemicals, NO secondary waste/mess, NO drying time, and equipment can be cleaned onsite.
